ABOUT ASAN SEOUL

INTRODUCTION

Asan Medical Center (AMC) is Korea’s largest general tertiary-care hospital, located in the eastern part of Seoul. It is one of the most sophisticated medical facilities in Korea. The medical center encompasses 3 highly specialized institutes, including 28 specialized centers, 54 clinical departments and a research institute for the life sciences.

AMC was founded in 1989, in fulfillment of the vision of the late Chairman Ju-Yung Chung, the founder of Hyundai Group. AMC adopted his pen-name ‘Asan’ to highlight its objective of improving the well-being and health of the people. From delivering top-notch medical services to leading biomedical research, AMC has expanded its role in Korean society through its consistent efforts and enthusiasm, as is stated in its mission.

In recent years, AMC has striven to become a global leader in the field of medicine by broadening its collaboration with other major international medical institutes and opening up its services to foreign patients. In response to this movement, the number of international patients visiting AMC has increased annually. Moreover, hundreds of medical professionals and medical students from all over the world are visiting AMC to acquire advanced medical skills and to learn its outstanding patient care system.
